Bats Big Game

“Bats big game!!” is a fantastic meaningful story/book retold by Margaret Read MacDonald and illustrated by Eugenia Nobati. This book starts off with a huge soccer game with the AAA which is the animal and the BBB team which is the bird’s team. The game was about to start when a bat arrived at the soccer game and asked the animal team if he could play, the bat said I have sharp teeth and look at my fur I am nothing like a bird. The game began it was an intense matchup where two teams battle it out, but then the BBB team scored and was in the lead, so the bat decided to switch to the BBB team. But then the AAA team noticed and was wondering how the bat was on the BBB team’s when he started the game on the AAA team. So both teams came together and asked the bat why he switched teams the bat said “I just wanted to be on the winning team” Then one of the other players said it doesn’t matter who’s winning or not you still have to stick with your team even if your loosing. I that the overall meaning of this book is to always stick with your team even if your loosing or winning, and always have faith in your team. I think that this book is written for ages 5 and up because when you are around 5 you start participating in sports or activities that are competitive. All, in conclusion, this book spreads a great message that everyone should know.

Enemy Pie

Enemy Pie is a  very meaningful story written by Derek Munson and illustrated by Calahan King. The story was about a young boy who was enemies with a kid named Jeremy Ross that just moved into the neighborhood right beside him, that invited the boys best friend Stanley over for a trampoline party. But the boy wanted to give Jeremy Ross the secret enemy pie his dad makes, but to make the enemy pie work you must hangout out with your enemy for one day and be nice to him.  So one day he goes over to his Jeremy Ross house and asked if he wanted to play in a nervous voice. So the boy went and asked his mom and came back with his shoes on ready to play. The two boys played all day jumping on the trampoline playing basketball but then Jeremy Ross asked to go into his tree house so the boy went up first quickly hiding the enemy list that was in the the tree house making sure Jeremy Ross didn’t know he was the the boys number one enemy. But then the boys dad came and told the boys dinner was ready so they ate dinner and after the boys dad brought out the enemy pie, but then the boys said that the pie was poisonous, but then Jeremy Ross said why has your dad already ate half of it so he tried a bite and nothing happened. I think that this books meaning is about becoming friends with your enemy and realizing how nice people are once you now them.I think this book is written for kids between the ages of 8-14 because kids that age usually have enemas and younger kids wont understand the full meaning of the story.

The Sweatiest Fig

The sweetest fig, written and illustrated by Chris Van Alsburg, This book is placed in Paris,France when this one grumpy ungrateful dentist has a patient come in that doesn’t have any money so she gives Monsieur Bibot two magical figs and she says “these figs will make your wishes comes true” then monsieur kicks out the old lady.Later that day Monsieur Bibot comes home after his long day and sits down at the table and eats the fig the old lady gives him. After Monsieur Bibot wakes up he takes Marcel his dog on a walk and stops to look at his reflection in a window and sees he is dressed in his underpants, so he runs to an alley and see that the Eiffel Tower is drooped down towards the ground, the exact thing that happened in his dreams, after a few days he comes  and sits down at the table to eat his second fig, just as he left for a second his dog Marcel came hopped up on the chair and started eating the fig, and Monsieur Bibot was so mad at his dog. The next morning Monsieur Bibot wakes up and sees his face above him and saying its time for a walk, just as he was about to talk he barked. I think that the main message behind this story is to put in perspective how other people/his dog Marcel are treated and how it feels, and always to be grateful for what you have. Also this books message is to always be nice to people, for example in the book Monsieur Bibot wasn’t Nice to his dog so one day Monsieur became the dog and the dog became the master.
